Mena had run a business for eight years and felt stuck: a content creation case study

Ghana flagMena, 34Accra, GhanaAI Creative campusThe Real World’s own interview, 5 minutes. It loads only when you press play.

Mena is 34 and lives in Accra, Ghana. In a student interview published on The Real World’s own website, Mena describes eight years of running a business, feeling “really stuck”, joining the Content Creation campus “in May this year”, learning “how to speak to camera” and “create content that sells”, and making “close to five figures” since.

One thing to know first: Mena already had a business; the campus was a way to grow it, not a start from zero. The campus Mena joined is the one the official site now calls Content Creation + AI and the app calls AI Creative. Below: what Mena says, in Mena’s own words and step by step; what the campus looks like inside today; wins and reviews from other members; and who this path suits. The full transcript is under “What Mena said”. Everything here comes from the interview, The Real World’s own caption and app, or the sources listed at the end.

At a glance

  • Who

Mena: “I’m 34 years old and I live in Accra, Ghana, in West Africa” (0:14). The Real World’s caption: “Mena, 34”, with a Ghana flag.

  • Starting point

An existing business: “I’ve run my business for eight years now” (2:06), and “for eight years I had become complacent”. Mena doesn’t say what the business is.

  • Campus

“I started with a content creation campus” (0:52), which “had just opened”; “now I’m also in the e-commerce campus, because I have a website”. The campus is now called AI Creative in the app.

  • Timeline

“I joined the campus in May this year” (2:09). The video doesn’t name the year; it was on The Real World’s home page by 28 September 2023.

  • Result (video)

“from the time I joined, I joined in May, up till now I’ve made close to five figures” (4:09). Per month, Mena says, “that would depend”. Also: “I’ve worked with two clients now” (2:43).

  • Result (caption)

The Real World’s caption: “New revenue: $2k+/month”, and “over $2,000/month due to the lessons” applied “from the Content Creation Campus”.

Mena gives a total since May, “close to five figures”, with no currency, and says the monthly figure “would depend”; the caption turns that into “over $2,000/month”. The interviewer then sums it up as “you’ve made five figures back”, which is more than Mena said. The Real World doesn’t say how it got the monthly figure. The figures are Mena’s and The Real World’s own; this site hasn’t seen them.

What Mena said

6 lines from the interview, copied exactly, each with what it means in plain English. The times are where they fall in the video.

“I’ve run my business for eight years now, and I joined the campus in May this year.”

Mena, at 2:07 in the video

What it means: Mena came with a working business; the campus was for growing it.

“for eight years I had become complacent. So I needed new things, I needed new challenges.”

Mena, at 2:19 in the video

What it means: Why Mena joined: “I was really stuck”, not short of a business.

“I started learning how to speak to camera, I started learning how to actually create content that sells.”

Mena, at 2:27 in the video

What it means: What Mena took from the campus: being on camera and content made to sell. (The campus also teaches faceless content, the member behind this site says.)

“I’ve worked with two clients now, which is totally outside my niche”

Mena, at 2:43 in the video

What it means: After the campus’s outreach courses, Mena took paid client work beyond the original business: “And I get paid for that.”

“from the time I joined, I joined in May, up till now I’ve made close to five figures.”

Mena, at 4:09 in the video

What it means: A total since joining, not a monthly figure, and no currency. The caption says over $2,000 a month.

“You don’t just join the campus.”

Mena, at 3:42 in the video

What it means: Mena’s answer to people who ask if it works: “you need to put in the work.”

What Mena did, step by step

  1. Mena heard about it at home

Mena came across it “through my boyfriend”, when “the campus had just opened”, and “joined straight away”.

    In the video at 0:23

  2. Mena started with the Content Creation campus

“I literally just learned everything and then directly applied to my business.”

    In the video at 0:52

  3. Mena learned to speak to camera

And “how to actually create content that sells”: “When I did that, I was amazed at the results.”

    In the video at 2:27

  4. Mena took on outside clients

After “courses in outreaching to other clients”, Mena worked with “two clients now, which is totally outside my niche”, and reinvests the money: “I can also invest that money in my business.”

    In the video at 2:38

  5. Mena added the e-commerce campus

“because I have a website”: “I’m picking all the knowledge that I can from everywhere.”

    In the video at 1:03

Transcribed on 26 October 2026 from the interview audio with Whisper speech recognition (run locally), then checked against a second full pass and a re-run of every quoted part: punctuation fixed, nothing added. “I got all about the place” (0:30) is as heard in every pass. Mena gives a surname at 0:16; we leave it out. Speaker labels are ours. The interviewer is from The Real World. The $49 and $50 mentioned were the price at the time; today it is $99 a month on the official checkout.

0:00 Interviewer: Mena, how are you?

0:01 Mena: Hi, I'm good. How are you?

0:03 Interviewer: I'm absolutely wonderful. So, do you want to start by telling me a little bit about how you discovered The Real World, your name, your age, how you first came across the message that me and Andrew like to put out?

0:14 Mena: Yes, sure. My name is Mena [surname not transcribed]. I'm 34 years old and I live in Accra, Ghana, in West Africa. I came across it through my boyfriend, actually.

0:26 Interviewer: Oh, nice.

0:27 Mena: Yes, he introduced me when I was like, I got all about the place with my content creation. So the campus had just opened. So as soon as he told me about it, I joined straight away.

0:39 Interviewer: So obviously you're living in Ghana, you discover The Real World. What campuses, I know you touched on it briefly, but which campuses, which lessons did you gravitate to, first of all, and what did you learn?

0:51 Mena: Right, I started with a content creation campus. I learned so many things from there because of the nature of my business. So I literally just learned everything and then directly applied to my business. But now I'm also in the e-commerce campus, because I have a website. Yeah, so I'm picking all the knowledge that I can from everywhere.

1:11 Interviewer: Yeah, good, good.

1:12 Mena: Yes, yes.

1:17 Interviewer: Sorry, do you network within The Real World at all? Have you made any friends, spoken to many people? I mean, talk about the group dynamic, because being a woman in a group, I guess, that is predominantly young men. How do you find the environment?

1:30 Mena: Real well. It's actually pretty interesting, because I don't have any brothers, so being in the whole men community was different for me. But everyone is so nice. Everyone helps me out with little projects that I do; they correct certain things for me. And I've also built a relationship with most of them, you know? I know I can always go to them directly, and also the professors as well.

1:55 Interviewer: Yeah, good, good.

1:56 Mena: I feel like a little sister.

1:58 Interviewer: So do you want to tell us a little bit about your business and how the lessons in The Real World have helped you grow it?

2:06 Mena: Sure. I've run my business for eight years now, and I joined the campus in May this year. So the real reason why I joined was because I was really stuck. I was in a place where I couldn't get creative, you know. I mean, for eight years I had become complacent. So I needed new things, I needed new challenges. So when I joined and I started learning how to speak to camera, I started learning how to actually create content that sells. When I did that, I was amazed at the results. And also I've taken courses in outreaching to other clients, and I've worked with two clients now, which is totally outside my niche, but I have a good challenge. Yeah. And I get paid for that. I can also invest that money in my business.

2:53 Interviewer: Beautiful. What would you say to people who say that The Real World is a scam, that the Tate brothers just want to steal $49 from everybody?

3:02 Mena: That is ridiculous. If you're asking if the juice is worth the squeeze, it is absolutely worth the squeeze. My life has been very different since I joined. I mean, I will have our down moments, but there are times when I just go to the campus, I take a course and I forget what even got me in a bad mood, because I get in the work mood. And if you're paying $50 a month for this, I think it's totally worth it. If you go to the university, how much fees do you pay per semester? You have nothing to lose. And also, when you put in the work… I get a lot of messages of people asking me, does The Real World really work? Does it really work? And I got tired of replying, because you need to put in the work. You don't just join the campus. When you put in the work and you practice, there is no way you're not going to succeed if you put your mind to it. You need to practice and put in the work.

3:53 Interviewer: So I'm going to ask you a slightly more personal question. Obviously you pay $49 a month inside of The Real World. How much, if you had to guess, how much more money you make per month because of the lessons you've learned, what would you say?

4:07 Mena: Per month, that would depend. But from the time I joined, I joined in May, up till now I've made close to five figures.

4:15 Interviewer: Nice, beautiful.

4:16 Mena: Yes, that has been a very big help to me and the people around me, because I've also taken on a lot of responsibility and I have people to take care of. So I have to keep going, and I need to keep on getting creative every day, come up with new ideas.

4:35 Interviewer: That's beautiful. So since May, you've paid three figures in total membership fees, and you've made five figures back from the lessons. I mean, this is why me and Andrew do what we do. We love empowering people. We love teaching people lessons that actually work in the real world in terms of making money. Thank you very much for your time. Give your regards to your boyfriend. Tell him thank you very much for introducing you to our content. Have a wonderful evening. Goodbye. Nice to meet you.

5:01 Mena: Nice to meet you. Bye.

How you get started

  1. Join and pick AI Creative

One membership covers every campus: $99 a month or $996 a year on the official checkout. In the app the campus is called “AI Creative”; the official site still lists it as Content Creation + AI and has no course page for it.

  2. Start with course 1

    1. What You Need To Know First (“The Basics That Everybody Else Gets Wrong”). Its first module has four lessons: Welcome To The AI Creative Campus, Productivity > Consumption, The Power Of Showing Up and The Elephant In The Room.

  3. Then the numbered courses

    2. The Foundation Of Making Money With Video (“Build The Skill Everything Else Depends On”) and 3. Start Getting Paid ASAP (“The Step That Gets You To $10K A Month”) are locked at the start, as are Social Media Marketing and Behind The Scenes of Cobratate. The Short Form AI Editing Bootcamp is open from day one.

  4. Apply it to your own business

Mena “directly applied” the lessons to an existing business (0:58), then used the outreach courses to find clients (2:38).

What support is like

  • Chats. A new member sees four channels: #announcements, #popespeech, #wins and #ai-creative-chat. Mena: “Everyone helps me out with little projects that I do”, and “I know I can always go to them directly, and also the professors as well” (1:41). The Real World publishes no response-time promise.
  • The community. Mena on being a woman in a mostly male group: “everyone is so nice”, and “I feel like a little sister” (1:30 to 1:56). That is one member’s experience.
  • Other campuses. One membership covers every campus. Mena added the e-commerce campus for a website: see the Ecommerce campus.
  • #wins and the leaderboard. A staff post in #announcements says the #wins channel “starts the process” and that the top 25 are confirmed “with proof” before the leaderboard. No posts from it have been captured for this site yet.
  • No guarantee. The Real World’s Terms of Use say it doesn’t guarantee any financial outcome. Every campus starts from the fundamentals and assumes no prior knowledge.

Real wins and reviews

No posts from the AI Creative campus’s own #wins channel have been captured for this site yet, so these are other members’ wins from across The Real World, with names and avatars blurred (any that show this campus come first). Tap any screenshot to see it full size. They are individual results, not typical ones, and not a promise: The Real World doesn’t publish average member earnings.

The jointherealworld.com.de profile was not run by The Real World; reviewers used it anyway. They are reviews of The Real World as a whole, not of one campus, and other people’s words, not this site’s findings.

“The biggest thing for me, besides the lessons and the professors, is the community. You have a problem, ask a question in chat, fixed in 5 minutes.”

Sergiu (RO), 27 Dec 2022 · archived www.cobratate.com page

“after a month, I informed them that their services were not suitable for me. Despite my clear communication, they attempted to withdraw a significant amount of money from my credit card for an additional two months.”

Is this path for you?

It may suit you if

  • You already run a business and want to market it with content. Mena had run one “for eight years” and “had become complacent”.
  • You are willing to learn to speak to camera, as Mena did, or to make faceless content instead.
  • You will practise. Mena: “You need to practice and put in the work.”
  • You like making videos or other content, and learning new software to do it.

It may not suit you if

  • You plan to make one video and stop. In the view of the member behind this site, the campus is about “quality and quantity, not just quantity and not just quality”, so it needs regular posting.
  • You expect results from joining alone. Mena: “You don’t just join the campus.”
  • You can only give it the odd hour. The official courses page says “the checklist expects a few focused hours per day” and that “Members who treat it as a side interest see little.”
  • You need a guaranteed return. The Real World’s Terms of Use say it doesn’t guarantee any financial outcome, and Mena’s figures are Mena’s own.

Mena’s numbers are one student’s account, given in an interview The Real World chose to publish, from someone who already ran a business. Whether you have to show your face, and which platforms it focuses on: the Content Creation + AI campus review (written before the app renamed it AI Creative).
