How to Cancel The Real World and Get a Refund (US & UK)

Leaving a subscription should be simple, and with The Real World it mostly is. The hard part is the money: what cancelling stops, what it doesn’t, and which refund routes exist in the US and the UK. Everything below comes from The Real World’s official subscription policy and support page, checked on September 13, 2026, plus Citizens Advice for the UK. It is general information, not legal advice.

How do I cancel The Real World subscription?

The official support page says: “You can cancel at any time in your account settings (the membership portal).” The steps:

1. Log in at app.jointherealworld.com with the email address you joined with.
2. Open your account settings (the membership portal).
3. Cancel the subscription there.
4. Keep any confirmation you receive, and note your renewal date.

The official policy tells members with questions about renewal, cancellation or refunds to “contact our customer support team before your next renewal date.” If you can’t log in to cancel, contact support through the official support page before the renewal date, not after.

What happens to my access when I cancel?

Cancelling stops the next renewal. It does not end your membership on the spot. The official policy says: “Access continues until the end of your current paid Subscription period.”

So if you cancel halfway through a month on the $99 monthly Conquer plan, you keep access until the month you paid for runs out. The price guide covers the plans and billing in full.

Does The Real World renew automatically?

Yes. The official policy says: “Subscriptions automatically renew for successive Subscription periods, in accordance with this policy, unless cancelled before your next scheduled renewal payment is processed.”

Can you get a refund from The Real World?

The official policy says: “Subscription fees are generally non-refundable once the Subscription period has commenced.” The support page puts it as “no refunds or credits are given for unused time once a billing period has started, except where the law requires otherwise.”

Two points soften that:

• Local law. The policy says consumer protection laws vary between countries, states and regions, and “those mandatory rights apply to the extent required by applicable law.”
• Discretion. The support page adds: “Requests outside the policy may be considered at NEL’s discretion via support.” NEL is New Era Learning, the company behind the platform.

The official checkout shows no free trial and no money-back guarantee, so don’t join expecting to try it and get the fee back.

Can I get a refund through the App Store or Google Play?

If you paid through the Apple App Store or Google Play, the official policy says the purchase is “subject to the relevant app store’s billing and refund policies.” Cancel the subscription in that store’s subscription settings and ask that store about a refund. Cancelling on the website won’t stop a store subscription.

What are my rights in the UK?

UK consumer law gives some extra routes. Citizens Advice says: “If you want to cancel a service you’ve arranged online, over the phone or by mail-order, you get a 14-day cooling-off period.” How that applies once you have started using an online course is a question for Citizens Advice, not for this page.

If something went wrong with the payment itself, Citizens Advice says to ask for your money back using “chargeback” if you paid by debit card. If you paid by credit card, it points to Section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act, “as long as you paid more than £100 and no more than £30,000.” A single $99 month is below that threshold, while the $996 yearly plan is above it.

What are my rights in the US?

The Real World’s own policy applies in the US too, along with whatever mandatory state and federal rules cover you. Subscription and auto-renewal rules differ from state to state. If you cancelled correctly and were still charged, or you were charged for something you never agreed to, contact The Real World support first. If that doesn’t fix it, your card issuer can tell you whether you can dispute the charge, and your state attorney general’s consumer office can explain which rules apply where you live.

Still charged after cancelling?

Check three things before disputing anything:

1. The date. A charge taken before you cancelled belongs to the period you already started.
2. The plan. Annual Pay Monthly is a 12-month commitment, so monthly charges can continue after you cancel.
3. Where you paid. A store subscription (App Store or Google Play) has to be cancelled in the store.

If none of those explain it, contact support with your email address and the charge date, and keep a copy of your cancellation.

When this doesn’t apply

• Policies can change. Every quote here was checked on the official pages on September 13, 2026. Read the current subscription policy before relying on it.

• Crypto payments are different. Card routes like chargeback and Section 75 don’t cover a crypto payment, so ask support directly.
• No results refunds. The Real World does not guarantee any profits or financial success, and not earning money back isn’t a refund reason under the official policy.
