How Old Do You Have to Be to Join The Real World?

Teenagers ask this question, and so do their parents. The official answer is short: The Real World sets no minimum age, but it tells anyone under 18 to bring a parent or guardian in before signing up. The Real World is an online learning platform, formerly called Hustlers University, where one membership opens every campus. Is there a minimum age to join The Real World?

No. The Real World’s support FAQ answers the question “How old do you have to be to join The Real World?” with:

“There is no minimum age to learn. If you are under 18, involve a parent or guardian before you sign up. The age at which parental consent is required is set by the law of your own country, and that is the rule that applies to you.”

The official Fitness campus page gives a similar answer. To “Does my age matter?” it says “No”, and it encourages “anyone under the age of 18 to consult a parent or guardian before signing up for TRW.”

The Terms of Use, which name New Era Learning LLC as the operator, were also checked on September 14, 2026. They state no minimum age and say nothing about minors or parental consent. So the support FAQ is the official age rule, and its message is clear: under-18s can learn, but not on their own.

What does “involve a parent or guardian” mean in practice?

The Real World doesn’t spell it out beyond the FAQ answer above. It says the age at which parental consent is required depends on the law of your own country, and that this is the rule that applies to you. Rules on minors differ from country to country, so check the one where you live, or ask a parent or guardian to.

For anyone under 18, a sensible order looks like this:

1. Talk to a parent or guardian first. This is The Real World’s own instruction, before you sign up.
2. Look at the campuses together. The overview of what The Real World is and the campus pages show what each part teaches.
3. Agree who pays and from which account. Membership is a card subscription, so settle this before anyone reaches the checkout.
4. Agree how and when to stop. The subscription renews until cancelled, so make sure the person paying knows how to cancel The Real World.

Can you join without your own card?

Only if a parent or guardian decides to pay. The official support page says: “Membership is billed in USD by Visa, Mastercard, American Express or Discover.” The official checkout showed card payment for monthly billing on September 12, 2026, and the step-by-step guide to joining The Real World walks through it. The support FAQ doesn’t describe a separate parent or family account.

That leaves two honest routes for someone under 18:

• Your own card or account, if you have one and your parent or guardian agrees.
• A parent or guardian pays, with their own card and their own decision.

Never use a parent’s card, or anyone else’s, without their permission. The Conquer plan was $99 a month, or $996 a year, on the official checkout on September 12, 2026. The official subscription policy says “Subscriptions automatically renew for successive Subscription periods, in accordance with this policy, unless cancelled before your next scheduled renewal payment is processed.” Whoever pays should know that before the first payment.

What should parents know about The Real World?

The basics, from official pages:

• What it is. An online platform of video and text lessons with member chats, operated by New Era Learning LLC. It was called Hustlers University before the rebrand.
• What it costs. $99 a month or $996 a year on the Conquer plan (official checkout, September 12, 2026), with every campus included. The price guide has the details.
• What it teaches. Business skills such as marketing, selling services, online stores and AI automation, plus a fitness campus. Three campuses are about crypto markets. Any money put into crypto is at risk, and the lessons aren’t investment advice.
• What it doesn’t promise. The Terms of Use say: “The Subscriptions are provided for educational purposes only. NEL does not guarantee that use of the Subscriptions will result in any particular financial, business or commercial outcome.”

What does the person behind this site advise?

The person behind this site has been a member since 2022, starting on Hustlers University and moving across to The Real World. His view on age is practical, and it is his own opinion, not an official rule.

• Parental permission matters. He sees it as important for anyone under 18.
• 16 to 18 can make sense. He thinks the platform makes a lot of sense for 16- to 18-year-olds who have access to their own money and their own card.
• Under 18, ask first. His recommendation is that anyone under 18 asks their parents for permission before joining.

His message to parents is that it’s good when a teenager takes the initiative to expand their education, and that time spent learning to provide real services is a good use of time. He doesn’t see it as a substitute for a part-time job, though. In his view, a job teaches time management and discipline, and the hard side of working for money, in a way an online course can’t. His suggestion for students who are still underage is to get a part-time job as well.

What kept him going on the platform was the community: ordinary members posting their real progress, setbacks included. That is worth knowing as a parent, because the chats are part of what a member signs up for, not just the lessons.
