Direct answer
The best alternative to The Real World depends on what you'd be paying it for. The Real World is an online learning platform, formerly Hustlers University, where one membership ($99 a month or $996 a year on the official checkout, October 19, 2026) opens every campus, with professors and member chats. Paid alternatives include Iman Gadzhi's Digital Launchpad app ($37.99 a month on Apple's App Store), Coursera Plus (priced by country, with a 7-day free trial on monthly billing) and Udemy. Free routes are real too: Y Combinator's Startup School, free SCORE mentoring and SBA counseling for US businesses, HubSpot Academy and AI tools. You can start learning business with AI instead of paying, and the person behind this site, a member since 2022, says that with no spare money you should probably hold off on paying. What the free routes don't give you is a community of members posting their progress, which is where The Real World fits.
The Real World isn’t the only way to learn business online, and at $99 a month it isn’t the cheapest. The Real World is an online learning platform, formerly Hustlers University, where one membership opens every campus. This page lists the paid alternatives with their real prices and refund terms, the free routes, and the cases where The Real World is still the better fit. Every price and policy below was read on the company’s own page on October 19, 2026. For the full verdict on The Real World itself, see the honest review of whether The Real World is worth it.
What are the paid alternatives to The Real World?
| Price (official page, Oct 19, 2026) | What you get | Refund or trial | NOT for you if | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| The Real World | $99 a month or $996 a year (Conquer) | Every campus, professors, member chats, daily course updates and live broadcasts | Generally non-refundable once a period starts; cancel anytime | You want a refund window or have no spare money |
| Digital Launchpad (Iman Gadzhi’s Educate) | $37.99 a month or $269.99 for 12 months (App Store description) | Video modules on copywriting, sales, eCommerce, paid ads and outreach; a private community; weekly group calls with coaches | 72-hour money-back guarantee | You want a product that’s clearly still updated (last app update July 3, 2025) |
| Consulting.com (Iman Gadzhi) | Not published; apply or book a call | Monetise build-and-launch program; Quantum consulting for established founders | Monetise 7 days; Quantum and UpLevel final sale | You’re starting from zero or need a price up front |
| Coursera Plus | Priced by country; from the UK, £43 a month or £295 a year | Courses and certificates from 350+ universities and companies | 7-day free trial on monthly billing; 14-day money-back guarantee on annual | You want a community of people building businesses together |
| Udemy Personal Plan | No price shown on its pricing page; “Try it free” | A subscription library of top-rated courses | Free trial offered | You want one coherent path rather than a course library |
| Skool groups | Set by each group’s owner | One community on one topic | Varies by group | Covered in the YouTube, Skool and AI comparison |
A few notes on the table:
- The Real World’s prices come from its official checkout, which also shows the Vanguard plan at $499 a month as sold out. The full price breakdown covers both plans.
- Educate no longer has its own storefront: educate.io redirected to consulting.com when checked. The only public Educate price is the Digital Launchpad App Store listing. The head-to-head comparison of The Real World and Iman Gadzhi’s Educate has the details.
- Coursera sets prices by location. This page was checked from a UK connection, so US readers should check the Coursera Plus page for the dollar price.
What are the free alternatives?
Free business education is better than many people assume, especially in the US.
- Y Combinator’s Startup School. In its own words, it “is a free online course on how to start a startup”. It says it takes about seven weeks at 1–2 hours a week, and it adds co-founder matching and a weekly progress tool. Best for tech or product startups.
- SCORE mentoring (US). SCORE says its mentoring is a free service for any aspiring or established owner of a US-based business, one-on-one, virtually or in person.
- The U.S. Small Business Administration. The SBA says it and its partners offer free or low-cost counseling, and its learning platform has courses on starting and growing a small business.
- HubSpot Academy. Its course library is billed as “Completely free & online”, with certifications.
- Acquisition.com. Alex and Leila Hormozi’s company lists free training, including courses on scaling, offer creation and lead generation. Its paid workshops are for established businesses that qualify on a call.
- YouTube and AI tools. These are covered in depth, from a member’s point of view, in The Real World vs YouTube, Skool and AI, so they aren’t repeated here.
Can I learn business with AI instead of paying?
Yes, you can start. The person behind this site, a member of Hustlers University and then The Real World since 2022, is straightforward about it. Asked who shouldn’t join, he said: “if anybody doesn’t have spare money, then probably hold off.” In his view, learning with AI “is probably one of the easiest ways to actually learn and get a better understanding of what’s possible.”
He’s just as direct about the limit: “AI cannot provide you results.” In his words, it “doesn’t show you, like, real people with real results.” That’s the gap he says The Real World fills, and the YouTube, Skool and AI comparison covers it in full.
When is The Real World the better fit?
The Real World tends to fit better than the alternatives above if:
- You don’t know which business model suits you yet. One membership covers every campus, so you can look through them all before choosing. The list of The Real World campuses shows what each teaches.
- You need a push to keep going. In the owner’s experience, what you pay for is the community: ordinary members posting screenshots, photos and what they did, setbacks included. Seeing that keeps you going when it’s hard, and it’s harder to find in a course library.
- You want to ask someone. Each campus has a professor and active chats.
- You’re ready to act. His view is that watching videos isn’t progress; action is.
It’s the worse fit if you have no spare money, want a refund window to try it, prefer a recognized certificate, or already run a business and need one-to-one advice. For that last group, SCORE, the SBA or a consulting program may serve you better.
When this doesn’t apply
- Prices change, and some depend on your country. Coursera and app-store prices vary by location, and Consulting.com shows none. Check the official page on the day you buy.
- No option on this page guarantees income. The Real World’s Terms of Use say it doesn’t guarantee any financial, business or commercial outcome.
- The Real World’s refund terms are strict. Fees are “generally non-refundable once the Subscription period has commenced”. Start monthly if you’re unsure, and read how to cancel The Real World.
- Any route costs more than the course. In the owner’s view, every business model needs some money beyond the membership, such as AI subscriptions, hosting or ads. See whether you need money to start The Real World.
- Free and paid, you still do the work. No course, mentor or AI tool builds the business for you.
