What Happens to Your Progress If You Rejoin The Real World?

Cancel The Real World and rejoin later: is your course progress kept? What the official support page and privacy policy say, what isn't promised, and what to do first.

The My Campuses list in The Real World app, with eight campuses and Add Campus at the end

Direct answer

No official page promises that your progress will still be there if you cancel The Real World and rejoin later. What the official pages do say: your progress is tied to your login, since the support page says "your progress follows you between" devices, and the privacy policy lists "progress and completion status" among the data The Real World holds. The same privacy policy says personal information is kept as long as it is needed to provide the services, and that The Real World reserves the right to delete it "if you are no longer an active account user". So a short break may well leave your progress in place, but it isn't guaranteed, and the longer you're away the less you can count on it. To give yourself the best chance, cancel rather than delete your account, and rejoin with the same email address. You pay the price on the checkout on the day you rejoin; the Conquer plan was $99 a month. Checked October 30, 2026. This site is independent and isn't run by The Real World.

If you’ve worked through half a campus, earned a rank or two and built up a chat history, it’s fair to ask what happens to all of that if you stop paying for a while. The Real World doesn’t answer the question head-on anywhere on its official site. This page puts together what its support page, privacy policy and subscription policy do say, read on October 30, 2026, and is clear about the gap. For the cancelling steps themselves, see how to cancel The Real World.

Is your progress kept if you cancel and rejoin?

There’s no promise either way. Here is what the official pages say, and what they leave out:

Question What the official pages say Grade
Is progress tied to your account? Yes. The support page: “your progress follows you between them”, meaning your devices, when you log in with the same email (support). PRIMARY
Does The Real World store progress? Yes. The privacy policy lists “progress and completion status tracking learning advancement” among the education data it holds (privacy policy). PRIMARY
How long is it kept? “as long as it is necessary to provide our services”, plus legal and dispute reasons. No number of days or months is given. PRIMARY
Can it be deleted after you leave? Yes. The policy reserves “the right to delete your personal information if you are no longer an active account user” (privacy policy). PRIMARY
Is it restored when you rejoin? Not stated anywhere on the official site. Gap

So the honest reading is this: your progress lives in your account, The Real World is allowed to delete the data of inactive users, and it doesn’t say when or whether it does. A short gap may change nothing. A long one is a gamble.

The About page describes the membership as “a live membership” where “members keep every update for as long as they’re in” (About page). That’s about the course material staying current while you’re a member. It isn’t a promise about what’s kept after you leave.

What happens between cancelling and rejoining?

  1. You keep access to the end of the paid period. The subscription policy says “Access continues until the end of your current paid Subscription period” (policy). Nothing is lost on the day you cancel.
  2. Then access ends, and no more payments are taken.
  3. Your data sits under the privacy policy’s rules, kept while needed and deletable once you’re no longer an active user.
  4. When you rejoin, you buy a membership on the official checkout like anyone else, at that day’s price.

How do you give yourself the best chance of keeping it?

None of these steps is an official guarantee. They follow from what the official pages say about how accounts work.

  • Cancel; don’t delete. Cancelling stops payments and leaves the account in place. Deleting it is what removes your data: the privacy policy says “You may delete your registered account at any time after logging in”, and the information then goes from backups when they’re updated (privacy policy). And deleting doesn’t stop payments anyway; see does deleting your Real World account stop payments.
  • Rejoin with the same email address. The support page says to log in “with the email address you used to join”, and that progress follows that login. The official pages describe no way to move progress to a different email address.
  • Write down where you were before you go. Note your campus, course and lesson, and take your own screenshots of anything you want to keep, such as your notes or your rank. If it’s gone when you come back, you’ll know where to restart.
  • Come back sooner rather than later, if you can. The privacy policy gives no time limit, so nobody can tell you how long is safe.
  • If something’s missing when you return, email support from the address you joined with, through the official support page.

Will you pay the same price when you rejoin?

Expect to pay whatever the checkout shows on the day. The subscription policy says “Price changes apply only to future Subscription periods” (policy), and a new membership after a break is a future period. The Conquer plan was $99 a month or $996 a year on the official checkout on October 19, 2026. Members who joined in the Hustlers University days paid $49.99 a month; nothing on the official site says that rate comes back if you leave and return. The price guide has the current plans.

What has the member behind this site seen?

The person behind this site joined Hustlers University in about April 2022 and says he has had the same membership ever since, through the move to The Real World. In his account the app now shows tiered progress: you watch the lessons, earn ranks and appear in a ranking system. That is exactly the kind of progress people worry about losing. He has never cancelled and rejoined, so he can’t say from experience what comes back, and this page doesn’t guess. (OWNER)

When this doesn’t apply

  • Your account was terminated, not cancelled. The terms say an account that is shared or used in breach of them can be suspended or terminated “immediately without refund, subject to applicable law”. Rejoining after that isn’t covered here.
  • You paid through an app store. The subscription policy says App Store and Google Play purchases follow the store’s billing and refund policies. The account and its data are still The Real World’s.
  • You’ve asked for your data to be deleted. Then it’s gone by your own request, apart from what the privacy policy says it must keep, such as purchase records.
  • The pages change. All quotes were checked on October 30, 2026. The support page and privacy policy are the current word.

What to do next

If you only need a break from paying, can you pause your Real World membership explains why cancelling before your renewal date is the closest thing to a pause. If you’re leaving because the campus didn’t suit you, which Real World campus to start with shows students who switched campuses on one membership instead. When you’re ready to come back, current prices are on the plan page.

Related questions

Will I lose my progress if I cancel The Real World?

Not straight away: access continues until the end of the period you have paid for. After that, no official page promises your progress is kept. The privacy policy says The Real World reserves the right to delete your personal information if you are no longer an active account user.

How do I rejoin The Real World after cancelling?

Through the official checkout at jointherealworld.com, like a new member. Using the email address you joined with keeps you on the same login, which is what the support page says your progress follows. Whether an old account is reattached isn't stated on the official pages, so if anything is missing, email support from that address.

Does deleting my account delete my progress?

Deleting the account is the step that removes your data. The privacy policy says you may delete your registered account at any time after logging in, and that the information is deleted from backups when the backup system is updated. Deleting doesn't cancel the subscription, so cancel first.

Do I keep my campuses when I rejoin?

One membership covers every campus, so you can add any campus again from the My Campuses list. Whether the campuses you had are already added when you return isn't stated on the official pages.

Will I get my old price back if I rejoin?

No official page says so. The subscription policy says price changes apply only to future subscription periods, and a new membership is a future period, so expect to pay the checkout price on the day you rejoin.
