The Real World First Week: What Happens After You Join

The Real World is an online learning platform, formerly called Hustlers University, where one membership opens every campus. This guide walks through what the first week actually looks like from the inside. It’s based on the experience of the person behind this site, a member since 2022, plus what the official pages say. What happens right after you join The Real World?

You pay on the official checkout, open the platform and pick a campus. The platform is an app you install from the official website; the official support page describes it as a progressive web app. The step-by-step guide to joining The Real World covers the checkout itself.

Once you’re in, the first steps look like this:

1. Pick a campus. A campus is one skill area, such as Ecommerce or Strategic Marketing, with its own lessons, chats and professor. Every campus is included in the membership.
2. Watch the professor’s introduction. Each campus opens with an introductory video from the professor who runs it. It explains why the campus matters, what the biggest pitfalls are, and gives a rough idea of how hard the work is.
3. Open the campus chats. Joining a campus gives you its chats, where members ask questions and post what they’re working on.
4. Start the lessons, in order, alongside the practical work (more on that below).

Which channels should a new member open first?

The person behind this site would send a new member to the channels where members post their wins and progress before anything else. Those posts are ordinary members’ screenshots, photos and accounts of what they did. Reading them first shows what people are actually using the platform for, and that the members are real people applying what they learned.

Treat those posts as what they are: individual members’ own results, not a forecast of yours. The Real World’s Terms of Use say plainly: “NEL does not guarantee that use of the Subscriptions will result in any particular financial, business or commercial outcome.” (NEL is New Era Learning LLC, the company that runs The Real World.)

Which campus should you start with?

His own first confusion was exactly this: which campus fitted him. When he joined, he didn’t understand which campuses suited which goals, because he hadn’t sat down and gone through them all first.

Because one membership covers every campus, his advice is to use your first days to compare them before you commit. Watch each introduction, note what each one needs from you, then pick one to focus on. A suggested plan for week one

This is a simple plan built on his advice, not an official schedule:

What would he do differently in his first week?

Take action while learning, from day one. “Watching videos isn’t progress,” he says. “Action is progress.” Videos help you make progress, but the progress itself is the thing you build.

His example is Ecommerce: if that’s your campus, start building a website straight away, so you understand what a store looks like and what it takes, rather than finishing every lesson first. The same idea applies to every campus: write the first piece of copy, reach out to the first potential client, build the first automation.

What does the first week cost?

The same as any other week of membership. The official checkout showed $99 a month, or $996 a year, when checked on September 12, 2026, with every campus included. When this doesn’t apply

• If you want it done for you. The platform teaches; you do the work. The guide to why people quit The Real World covers who is better off not joining.
• If you can’t give it real time. A week of watching without doing tells you very little.
• If you don’t read English. The platform and lessons are in English, as the guide to joining from outside the US explains.
• Inside details change. This describes the platform as one member has used it. Campus names, channels and layouts can change.
• No guaranteed results. Whatever other members post, your outcome depends on your own work, and The Real World doesn’t guarantee one.
