At a glance
Who
Austin. The Real World’s caption gives the age as 32 and shows a US flag; Austin doesn’t state an age or a country in the video.
Starting point
“a year ago I was working just a regular job and I had no real way of making money online” (1:30). Austin had studied “a little bit of email marketing” before joining (3:20).
Campus
“I joined the Copywriting campus” (0:11), now Strategic Marketing: “I learned how to do cold outreach through emails.”
Effort
“somewhere around five, six hours a day, studying the content and applying it” (1:41), and outreach “continuously, every single day” (0:16).
Timeline
The $2,000-a-month client was “the third client I ever got, 90 days after joining” (0:30); “I landed my first four clients within two weeks of each other” (2:40). The video doesn’t name the year; it was on The Real World’s home page by 8 June 2023.
Result (video)
“probably between four to 6,000 a month. Sometimes more than that”, and “sometimes it’s over 10K” (1:54 to 1:59). No currency for these; revenue or profit not said. Austin has hired an employee (2:07).
Result (caption)
The Real World’s caption: “New revenue: $500,000/year”, and “Austin went from working a 9-5 and is now” self-employed, “generating $6k/month with” those skills (quoted without the pronoun).
The caption contradicts itself and Austin. Its headline, “$500,000/year”, isn’t in the video: Austin’s own figures are “four to 6,000 a month”, sometimes over 10K, and even 10K every month would be 120K a year. The caption’s smaller text, “$6k/month”, is the top of Austin’s usual range. Austin gives no currency for the monthly range and doesn’t say whether it is revenue or profit; with an employee to pay, the two may differ. The $2,000 and $1,200 retainers are in dollars, in Austin’s words. The figures are Austin’s and The Real World’s own; this site hasn’t seen them.
What Austin said
7 lines from the interview, copied exactly, each with what it means in plain English. The times are where they fall in the video.
“So he put me on a retainer for $2,000 a month.”
What it means: The first big client: email marketing, on a monthly retainer.
“This was the third client I ever got, 90 days after joining The Real World”
What it means: Not the first client: the third, about three months in.
“about 90 days of doing that continuously, every single day, doing the cold outreach aspect”
What it means: What came before it: cold email outreach, daily, for about three months.
“he actually started paying me another $1,200 a month to ghostwrite his Twitter”
What it means: The same client added ghostwriting for Twitter, LinkedIn “and a couple other things”.
“somewhere around five, six hours a day, studying the content and applying it”
What it means: The time Austin put in. The official courses page also expects “a few focused hours per day”.
“probably between four to 6,000 a month. Sometimes more than that.”
What it means: Austin’s own monthly range now, which “varies a little bit”; not the caption’s $500,000 a year.
“I landed my first four clients within two weeks of each other”
What it means: Months of nothing, then several clients at once: “it was nothing, and then suddenly I was making money”.

Transcribed on 27 October 2026 from the interview audio with Whisper speech recognition (run locally), then checked against a second full pass and a re-run of every part with two models: punctuation fixed, fillers dropped, nothing added; “[unclear]” marks words the passes don’t agree on. The video is cut from a longer interview and starts with the interviewer’s question about figures. At 3:21 every reading hears “copyright” (probably “copywriting”), marked [unclear]. At 0:40 three readings hear “two grand a month”, one “$2,000 a month”. Speaker labels are ours. The interviewer is from The Real World; the “he” and “his” in Austin’s answers are the client.
0:00 Interviewer: And are you comfortable revealing figures and in what time span?
0:06 Austin: Yeah, sure. So as far as time span goes, I joined the Copywriting campus. I learned how to do cold outreach through emails, and about 90 days of doing that continuously, every single day, doing the cold outreach aspect, I finally found a client that really needed a bunch of email marketing stuff done. So he put me on a retainer for $2,000 a month. This was the third client I ever got, 90 days after joining The Real World, which is pretty crazy for me at the time, because I had never made that much money online before. So he started paying me two grand a month just to manage his email list, which involves sending daily emails, ghostwriting in his voice and sending out promotions to the list. And then later on, he actually started paying me another $1,200 a month to ghostwrite his Twitter and a couple other, like his LinkedIn and a couple other things that he does. So that was a huge win for me. That was fantastic. And it's because of the cold outreach techniques that were taught in the Copywriting campus that I was able to even find this guy and then use my skills to actually solve some of his problems for him.
1:19 Interviewer: That's great. And how have things scaled for you since then?
1:23 Austin: It's been great. I've had months over 10K, which is, it's so mind-blowing looking back, because a year ago I was working just a regular job and I had no real way of making money online. And then I discovered The Real World. I took it really seriously, dedicated a ton of my time, somewhere around five, six hours a day, studying the content and applying it. And within a few months I started making money. And now, to answer your question, how I'm doing now, I'm making probably, it varies a little bit, probably between four to 6,000 a month. Sometimes more than that. Like I said, sometimes it's over 10K. Just kind of depends on which clients are coming my way and what kind of work me and my new employee are doing. So I now have been able to hire an employee as well. So things are going great. I can see it scaling from here. So very excited.
2:12 Austin: When I joined The Real World, it was much smaller than it is now. I think there was only a few thousand people when I joined, but there was people that were way ahead of me that were making upper four figures and five figures even, that they were showing in the wins channel. So I knew it was possible to make money doing this. And a lot of those people, they gave me fuel. So I was like, okay, that's possible. But I didn't really expect that I was going to be able to do it so quickly. And so when I did start landing clients, I landed my first four clients within two weeks of each other, and one of them was the $2,000 a month guy. And so it was just, it was nothing, and then suddenly I was making money. And so it blew me away. I had no idea it was even possible.
2:55 Interviewer: How different would you say the material is within The Real World compared to what you can find out on the internet?
3:02 Austin: Compared to the rest of the internet? Yeah, you can find a lot of this information on the internet, but the problem is it's not as focused, for one thing. And the other thing is you don't have a network to keep you accountable. So I'd say that's probably the two biggest things for me. Because like I said before, I used to study a little bit of email marketing and [unclear] before I got to The Real World, but there's so much information that's scattered all over the place by people that are of varying degrees of success. And then there's no, like, network to sort of keep you accountable on all those things. So when you join The Real World, it's fantastic, because you have all these campuses that are just highly focused on the one subject, and then they walk you through step by step how to do each step of the process. And I think that's what makes it a game changer for a lot of people. And then you have a network of people that you can fall back on to ask questions. And then the wins channel, of course, as well. Like I mentioned earlier, that was a big part of what gave me fuel, and seeing other people winning. And it, you know, makes you realize, wow, this is actually possible. So that's...

Follow the daily flow
The #daily-schedule post, “Best simple daily flow”: say GM in #daily-GM, attend the Morning Power Up Call in #power-up-live, do the Dojo Drill of the Day in #the-dojo-hq and the #daily-dojo-puzzle, attend the other live calls when you can, or “watch the recording”.
Expect months of outreach first
Austin learned “cold outreach through emails” and did it “every single day” for about 90 days before the $2,000-a-month client (0:16). The first four clients came “within two weeks of each other” (2:40).
What support is like
- #newb-chat. START-HERE sends every question there. The Real World publishes no response-time promise.
- A network and the wins. Austin: “you have a network of people that you can fall back on to ask questions. And then the wins channel” (3:49), which “gave me fuel”. That is Austin’s account.
- Live calls. The Morning Power Up Call runs in #power-up-live; a post in #daily-schedule asks members to turn on livestream notifications for the campus’s pop-up calls.
- The Dojo. A channel group with #daily-dojo-puzzle, #the-dojo-hq (the Dojo Drill of the Day) and #the-dojo.
- No guarantee. The Real World’s Terms of Use say it doesn’t guarantee any financial outcome. Every campus starts from the fundamentals and assumes no prior knowledge.
Real wins and reviews
No posts from the Strategic Marketing campus’s own #wins channel have been captured for this site yet, so these are other members’ wins from across The Real World, with names and avatars blurred (any that show this campus come first). Tap any screenshot to see it full size. They are individual results, not typical ones, and not a promise: The Real World doesn’t publish average member earnings.

What members said on Trustpilot
Trustpilot has since removed The Real World’s profiles. These excerpts come from archived copies of those pages, read on 25 October 2026, with the reviewer’s first name, country and date as shown; “Invited” is Trustpilot’s label for reviews that came through a business link. The jointherealworld.com.de profile was not run by The Real World; reviewers used it anyway. They are reviews of The Real World as a whole, not of one campus, and other people’s words, not this site’s findings.
“The biggest thing for me, besides the lessons and the professors, is the community. You have a problem, ask a question in chat, fixed in 5 minutes.”
“after a month, I informed them that their services were not suitable for me. Despite my clear communication, they attempted to withdraw a significant amount of money from my credit card for an additional two months.”
The Real World replied: “turn off auto-renew before your next billing date.”
“Most the informaton you could find for free online in other places but you'll spend more time trying to find a simple step by step guide then using this platform.”
“Despite paying $49 per month (around $300 total), I didn't make any money or gain valuable insights. Much of the content was outdated and U.S.-focused”
“the campuses are also perfect if you are completely new to these methods of wealth creation but it'll take you some time before you see results.”
“The courses themselves are okay, but they're difficult to apply, and getting real clients is even harder. Overall, I don't think this works.”
For the record, the scores on 27 February 2025: the profile at trwstudent.com showed 2.9 from 23 reviews, and therealworldeducation.com showed 4.4 from 82, most of them invited through a business link over two days. Both profiles have since been removed.
Is this path for you?
It may suit you if
- You will do outreach every day for months with nothing to show yet. Austin did about 90 days of it before the big client.
- You can give it real hours. Austin put in “somewhere around five, six hours a day”.
- You have no starting capital and a few hours a day. The Real World lists Strategic Marketing among the campuses that “sell a skill instead of a product”.
- You want structure over scattered free content. Austin’s view: the internet “it’s not as focused” and has no “network to keep you accountable”.
It may not suit you if
- You are shy or timid. In the experience of the member behind this site, selling your writing means talking to clients.
- You expect $500,000 a year. That is the caption’s figure; Austin’s own is “four to 6,000 a month”, sometimes over 10K.
- You can only give it the odd hour. The official courses page says “the checklist expects a few focused hours per day” and that “Members who treat it as a side interest see little.”
- You need a guaranteed return. The Real World’s Terms of Use say it doesn’t guarantee any financial outcome, and Austin’s figures are Austin’s own.
Austin’s numbers are one student’s account, given in an interview The Real World chose to publish. For more on who it suits and how long it took to feel confident, see the Strategic Marketing campus review, from a member who took the campus when it was still Copywriting, in the Hustlers University days.
